Gillian Anderson is a passionate supporter of women's rights, LGBTQIA+ communities, Indigenous peoples, animal welfare, and environmental causes. HELLO!
Gillian Anderson, 57, proved once again that she’s a fashion icon when she stepped onto the runway during Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday. Known for her stunning red-carpet appearances since her days on The X-Files, the actress closed out the Miu Miu show, turning heads in a pale yellow sleeveless shift dress.
A Fashion Statement at Paris Fashion Week
Anderson’s runway look was striking. She wore a pale yellow shift dress, beautifully embellished at the front, and paired it with brown leather heels and a zig-zag headband. The outfit highlighted her effortless style, and she looked as ageless as ever, capturing the attention of the fashion world.
For years, Gillian has remained a major presence on the red carpet, but in a recent interview, she shared how much celebrity fashion has evolved, especially with the rise of personal stylists. In the past, she was often left to put together her own looks.
Fashion Evolution and Personal Style
Speaking about her early days in the spotlight, Gillian recalled, “For a long time, I didn’t have [a stylist]. The red-carpet process was much less organized then. Your agent might have relationships with a few fashion brands, and they’d send some things over, and it would be me trying things on at home in my bedroom.”

The actress also opened up about her struggles with finding the right style, stating that she spent a long time feeling as if she wasn’t representing herself properly. “I spent a long time getting it wrong, feeling somehow I wasn’t projecting who I am,” she shared. However, she now believes that defined silhouettes and strong, solid colours are the key to flattering her shape.
Breaking Barriers with Aging
Gillian Anderson is not only challenging beauty standards but also defying the norms around aging in Hollywood. As she embraces getting older, she encourages women to view aging as something empowering. “I certainly feel that and have been embracing that and really properly leaning into it and taking advantage of it,” she said in an interview.
She also reflected on how society views aging, especially for women, and how we should view it differently. “What’s interesting is when I’ve been asked about it, there’s part of my brain that just thinks, ‘Well, of course. I mean, why wouldn’t it be?’”
She believes that seeing women in her age group showing that “not only is there a next, but it’s a really fantastic next” is an important message. “I encourage women to look forward to this time and not be afraid of this time,” she added, highlighting how empowering it can be to embrace this phase of life.
Embracing Natural Aging
“I’m not afraid of my age or the changes that are happening. I feel proud to be the age that I am,” Gillian remarked. She shared that she’s continuing to build, grow, and pursue whatever she sets her mind to, proving that age is just a number.
The actress also shared how she’s inspired by European women and their approach to aging naturally. “I think in Europe, in general, there’s a sense that women who age naturally can be beautiful, whereas I’m not so sure that’s the perception in America, specifically in LA. I think that it’s seen as a flaw, somehow – like wrinkles are a flaw.”
Maintaining a Balanced Life
Gillian maintains her health and well-being with yoga, running, and a clean diet. She believes balance in life is key to happiness. “When I get enough sleep, meditate, eat healthfully, and have a balance in my life between work, family, and friends, and have cultural intellectual stimulation – it’s a lot to ask,” she said. “But, when that balance is right, I probably feel the most fulfilled and the happiest.”
