Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning along the West Coast of British Columbia, with the heaviest showers expected around Metro Vancouver. The area could see up to 70 millimeters of rain before the downpour subsides around noon, which might disrupt Remembrance Day events planned for Monday morning.
Additional weather alerts are in effect for other regions. The Fraser Valley and Sunshine Coast are under special weather statements, while advisories for snow and fog have been issued across other parts of the province.
Heavy snowfall is anticipated along Highway 3, from Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass, where up to 40 centimeters of snow could fall by Wednesday. The snow is expected to be heaviest from Monday morning through Tuesday afternoon, with wind gusts reaching up to 50 km/h.
In the meantime, a fog advisory is in place for the Okanagan Connector, affecting the stretch between Merritt and Kelowna. Earlier on Monday, a freezing rain warning was in effect for northeastern B.C., though it has since been lifted.
