As the Predators pushed for an equalizer with their net empty, Zach Hyman chased down a loose puck in the neutral zone. His empty-net goal with just over a minute remaining secured the 3–1 result and ensured Edmonton would not repeat its previous late-game collapse.
The play also gave McDavid his third assist of the night, capping another influential performance from the Oilers captain.
