Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers made history by becoming the first Major League Baseball player to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a single season. In a spectacular game against the Miami Marlins, Ohtani hit three home runs and stole two bases, showcasing his incredible all-around talent.
Ohtani hit his 49th home run in the sixth inning, followed by his 50th in the seventh, and capped off the night with his 51st in the ninth. He finished the game with a perfect 6-for-6 performance, driving in 10 RBIs. He also became the first player in MLB history to hit three homers and steal two bases in the same game.

The Japanese superstar’s 50-50 milestone came after his 150th game of the season. Earlier this year, he had already reached the rare feat of 40 home runs and 40 stolen bases, setting a new standard of excellence. His previous career-high in home runs was 46, with the Los Angeles Angels in 2021.

Ohtani’s remarkable power and speed have been crucial to the Dodgers’ success, as they clinched their 12th consecutive playoff berth with a 20-4 win over the Marlins. This will be Ohtani’s first postseason appearance, as he never made it with the Angels.

Ohtani, who signed a $700 million, 10-year deal with the Dodgers last December, has focused on hitting this season while recovering from elbow surgery. Despite not pitching, he has continued to dominate offensively, becoming a central figure in the Dodgers’ playoff run. His relentless work ethic and attention to detail have impressed his teammates, who praise his preparation and dedication to the game.

With the playoffs approaching, Ohtani’s historic season may also see him earn his first National League MVP award. His ability to hit and steal bases at an elite level has made him one of baseball’s unique talents, and his impact on the game will be felt for years to come.
