In Nisku, Alberta, Rachel Homan continued her flawless run at the Co-op Canadian Open by defeating Chelsea Carey 9-3 on Thursday. The Ottawa-based skip secured her third consecutive win, boosting her record to 3-0 and locking in a spot in the playoffs with one round-robin match still to play. Homan built a significant lead by scoring three points in both the second and seventh ends.
Chelsea Carey, now skip of her Winnipeg team after replacing Jennifer Jones, faced her first loss of the tournament, dropping to a 2-1 record. This week, Lindsey Burgess is filling in for the second position for Emily Zacharias, who has a limited schedule this season.

Meanwhile, Kerri Einarson from Gimli, Manitoba, had an impressive 9-1 win over Momoha Tabata from Japan. South Korea's EunJung Kim also performed well, securing a 7-3 victory against Japan's Sayaka Yoshimura. Edmonton’s own Selena Sturmay managed a decisive 10-4 win against Sweden’s Isabella Wrana.

Later in the day, Brad Jacobs’ Calgary team improved their record to 3-0 by edging past Switzerland’s Marco Hösli with a narrow 4-3 victory. Jacobs, who trailed before the final end, executed a double takeout with the hammer to score two points and secure the win.

Scotland’s Bruce Mouat kept up his undefeated streak with a 7-3 triumph over Saskatoon's Mike McEwen, also advancing to 3-0. In other matches, Matt Dunstone from Winnipeg won 8-3 over Saskatoon’s Rylan Kleiter, and Switzerland’s Yannick Schwaller narrowly beat John Shuster’s American team 8-7 after an extra end. Shuster was absent due to illness, so Christopher Plys stepped in as skip for the match.

The Grand Slam event, held at the Silent Ice Centre, featured two more draws on Thursday. The competition will advance to the playoff stage on Saturday, with the finals set to be played on Sunday.
