Skiing fans eager to watch the world's top women racers in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, are facing disappointment. The much-anticipated PwC Tremblant World Cup, set for December 7 and 8, has been called off because unseasonably warm weather has made it impossible to create the snow needed for the races.
On Friday, organizers issued a statement announcing the cancellation, explaining that the lack of cold temperatures meant they couldn't produce adequate snow coverage. Peter Gerdol, a race director for the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), emphasized that safety is their priority. "The current conditions don’t allow us to ensure the safety of athletes, staff, or volunteers," Gerdol stated.

While this decision has left fans and participants disappointed, organizers are working to minimize the inconvenience. Those who bought tickets will automatically receive refunds in the coming days. Additionally, anyone who booked accommodations will be contacted to discuss options, including confirmation, modification, or cancellation of their reservations.

The good news for skiing enthusiasts is that the competition is expected to return in 2025. The next PwC Tremblant World Cup has already been scheduled for December 6 and 7 that year, giving fans something to look forward to.

This year’s warm spell is a stark reminder of the challenges winter sports face due to shifting weather patterns. While athletes and fans alike regret the loss of this year's event, the organizers remain committed to delivering a safe and thrilling experience when the races resume in 2025.
