Manchester United delivered a stunning comeback against Manchester City on Sunday, sealing a 2-1 victory in the final moments of the Manchester Derby. After two consecutive losses, United fought hard to overturn a deficit, making the match unforgettable for fans on both sides of the rivalry.
The game began with Manchester City dominating possession and taking an early lead. In the 36th minute, Joško Gvardiol soared above the defence to head in a well-executed set piece, giving City the advantage. For much of the match, United struggled to break through City’s disciplined backline, making the hosts appear poised to claim another Derby win.

However, the momentum shifted dramatically in the closing minutes. United equalized in the 88th minute through a penalty kick, thanks to Bruno Fernandes’ calm and precise shot. The penalty came after City defender Matheus Nunes made two critical errors—first by giving away the ball with a poor pass, then fouling United forward Amad Diallo inside the penalty area in a desperate attempt to recover.

Diallo wasn’t done making headlines. Just two minutes later, in the 90th minute, he took advantage of another opening in City’s defense. Racing through City’s backline with remarkable pace and skill, he delivered a perfectly timed chip over goalkeeper Ederson. The ball sailed effortlessly into the net, sending the Old Trafford crowd into a frenzy.

The victory marked a much-needed boost for Manchester United, who snapped a frustrating two-game losing streak. For Manchester City, the defeat deepened their woes, as they have now lost five of their last seven matches. Additionally, their recent struggles in UEFA Champions League competition have raised questions about their form and tactical adjustments.

Sunday’s match, once seemingly a routine City victory, transformed into a dramatic display of determination and grit by Manchester United. Red Devils fans left the stadium elated, while City supporters pondered what went wrong in those crucial final minutes.
