Consumers who recently purchased frozen taquitos from Aldi should take note of a major recall. Bestway Sandwiches Inc. is recalling nearly 25,000 pounds of its frozen chicken and cheese taquitos due to potential contamination with metal fragments. This precautionary move follows reports of metal being found in the product, including one case where a consumer suffered a dental injury.

The recall affects 20-ounce packages of "CASA MAMITA CHICKEN & CHEESE TAQUITOS" marked with the establishment number "EST. P-40327" on the packaging. The affected items feature best-by dates of July 3, 2025, and September 25, 2025, printed on the bottom panel. The Universal Product Code (UPC) for these items is 4061459337471. These products were distributed to Aldi stores in 30 states and the District of Columbia.

The issue was discovered when a customer reported finding a piece of metal in the taquitos. Another report detailed a dental injury caused by the product. While no further injuries or illnesses have been reported, officials urge anyone concerned about health effects to contact their healthcare provider.

Consumers who purchase these products should not eat them. Instead, they are encouraged to discard the taquitos or return them to the store where they were purchased. Those seeking a refund or additional details can contact Bestway Foods at (818)-361-1800, extension 110. For general food safety inquiries, the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline is available at 888-674-6854 or via email at [email protected].

The recalled taquitos were distributed to Aldi stores across several states, including Alabama, Florida, Massachusetts, and Ohio, among others. The company urges customers in these areas to double-check their freezers for the affected items.

This recall highlights the importance of vigilance when it comes to food safety. Customers are advised to remain cautious and report any issues promptly to prevent similar incidents.
