Viktor Arvidsson delivered the game-winning goal in the third period, helping the Edmonton Oilers secure a 3-1 victory over the New York Rangers on Sunday night.

Edmonton’s offence was powered by Corey Perry and Connor McDavid, who also found the back of the net. The Oilers wrapped up their four-game road trip with back-to-back wins, including a 2-1 overtime victory against the Islanders on Friday. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins played a key role, assisting on all three goals, while goaltender Stuart Skinner made 21 saves.

The Rangers, coming off two consecutive wins, struggled to keep up. Will Cuylle provided New York’s lone goal, and goalie Igor Shesterkin managed 20 saves but couldn't hold off Edmonton’s attack.

How the Game Unfolded

The Oilers struck first with a power-play goal from Corey Perry in the final moments of the first period. The veteran forward capitalized on a net-front scramble to net his 15th goal of the season, giving Edmonton an early lead.

New York responded in the second period when Will Cuylle evened the score at the five-minute mark, setting the stage for a tense third period.

Then, at 6:09 into the final frame, Arvidsson fired a high shot past Shesterkin, securing his ninth goal of the season and putting the Oilers ahead 2-1.

Connor McDavid sealed the win with his 25th goal of the season, scoring with just over three minutes left in regulation.

Game Highlights

  • Skinner’s Key Saves: The Oilers’ goalie came up big in the third period, denying J.T. Miller on a Rangers power play and making a crucial stop against Adam Fox.
  • Draisaitl’s Playmaking: Leon Draisaitl assisted on Perry’s goal, adding to his impressive 101-point season. He trails only Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon (103 points) in the NHL scoring race.

Team Performance

  • Oilers on the Rise: Edmonton improved its road record to 19-13-2.
  • Rangers’ Home Struggles: New York suffered its third straight home loss, dropping to a 16-15-3 record at Madison Square Garden.
