The Toronto Raptors may be out of the playoff race, but their recent performances suggest a promising future. With a 108-97 victory over the Charlotte Hornets, the team extended their winning streak to three games, showing that development isn't just for rookies. Veterans Jakob Poeltl, Scottie Barnes, and Immanuel Quickley led the charge, proving that Toronto’s core is building valuable chemistry.

Head coach Darko Rajakovic praised his team’s effort, highlighting their teamwork and communication. "It's great to see how hard they play and support each other," Rajakovic said. "Everything starts with effort and team chemistry, and I’m really proud of what we have."

Poeltl, Barnes, and Quickley Shine

Poeltl, the Raptors' reliable center, dominated with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Barnes, a former All-Star, contributed 18 points, six rebounds, and six assists, while Quickley, acquired from the Knicks last season, added 19 points and nine assists. Their performances have fueled optimism that the Raptors could return to contention next year.

"It's big for building chemistry," Poeltl said. "We're getting more reps together, and it’s starting to show."

Raptors Focus on Future Growth

Toronto currently holds one of the league’s worst records, positioning them well for the NBA Draft lottery. They have a 32% chance of landing a top-four pick and a 7.5% shot at securing the No. 1 selection. With nine games left, the Raptors are likely locked into their current standing.

Despite their low ranking, the team has been impressive defensively. Over the past 10 games, Toronto has led the league in defensive efficiency. Rajakovic credited Barnes for his defensive work, limiting Miles Bridges to just 4-for-20 shooting. The team also recorded nine steals and forced a key backcourt violation late in the game.

"We’re able to put a lot of pressure on guys and force mistakes," Poeltl added. "That’s awesome for us—it fuels our offence."

Building Toward Next Season

The Raptors will look to extend their winning streak to four games when they face the Philadelphia 76ers. With no playoff hopes, their focus remains on strengthening their foundation.

"We're not done yet," Poeltl said. "The goal is to sustain this effort against tougher teams and carry it into next season."
