At Paris Fashion Week, models in Duran Lantink’s runway show grabbed attention with unique prosthetics, including sculpted abs and oversized, bouncing breasts. CNN

At the Fall-Winter 2025 Paris Fashion Week, Dutch designer Duran Lantink grabbed attention with his unconventional collection. His show took place in a futuristic office setting, resembling a scene from a sci-fi thriller. Models strutted the runway in outfits featuring exaggerated shapes, bold animal prints, and even jeans with exposed backsides.

However, the most shocking moments came from two prosthetic torsos. Model Mica Argañaraz wore a sculpted six-pack, while emerging male model Chandler Frye stunned the audience with a set of large, bouncing breasts. Videos of these jaw-dropping looks quickly went viral, sparking debates online. Some praised Lantink for pushing gender boundaries, while others accused him of making a mockery of femininity. The designer, however, explained that his inspiration came from the idea of humans as action figures.

This showcase highlights a growing trend in fashion: prosthetics. Major brands like Balenciaga, Martine Rose, and Collina Strada have recently embraced this concept, using masks, implants, and 3D makeup to create surreal looks. One of the most memorable examples was Stockholm-based brand Avavav, which crafted a wearable silicone replica of Kim Kardashian’s backside.

A History of Transformation

Prosthetics have been around for centuries, originally serving medical purposes. The first known artificial limbs date back to ancient Egypt and Rome. Over time, they evolved for artistic and entertainment uses. Early films in the late 19th century used basic prosthetics made from gum, wax, and cotton. By the 1930s, rubber masks became widely available, thanks to special effects pioneer Don Post.
