Melanie Hamrick has shared that she’s engaged to Mick Jagger. The 37-year-old dancer said the rock star proposed a few years ago, but they’re in no rush to get married. In a recent interview with a French magazine, she explained that they’re happy just the way things are.
“Maybe we’ll marry one day, maybe not,” Hamrick said. “We’re so happy with our life now that I don’t want to change it.”
She added that their relationship works because they support and care for each other. “We try to make sure everyone is happy. That’s what matters most to me,” she said.
Jagger and Hamrick first met in Japan in 2014. He was performing with The Rolling Stones, and she was dancing with the American Ballet Theatre. They met backstage at one of his shows when Hamrick and her friends went to visit.
When asked if it was love at first sight, Hamrick smiled. “Maybe a spark, but nothing dramatic like ‘let’s travel the world together.’ We didn’t even exchange numbers,” she said. At that time, she was single, but Jagger was not.
In December 2016, the couple welcomed their son, Deveraux Octavian Basil Jagger. He is Jagger’s eighth child.
Hamrick had hinted about the engagement before. In 2023, during an interview about her novel First Position, she wore a new ring. When asked about it, she laughed and said, “Did Mick give me the ring? Yes. Is it on that finger? Yes.” She jokingly added that it felt more like a promise ring than an engagement ring. “Let’s be immature and call it that,” she said.
This would be Jagger’s second time getting married if they ever tie the knot. He was married to Bianca Jagger from 1971 to 1978. They have one daughter together, Jade, who is now 53.
Jagger has a large family. Besides Deveraux and Jade, he has seven other children: Karis, 54; Elizabeth, 41; James, 39; Georgia May, 33; Gabriel, 27; and Lucas, 25. Despite his busy career and family life, he and Hamrick seem to have found a steady rhythm.
The couple often keeps their relationship private, though Hamrick sometimes shares glimpses of their life on social media. She recently posted photos with Jagger and their son, showing quiet family moments.
Though there’s no wedding date, their bond seems strong. For now, they’re enjoying life together, one day at a time.
