This Thursday, every bite at McDonald’s can help bring hope to families in need.

McHappy Day® is back on May 8, and McDonald’s Canada along with its independent franchisees are calling on Canadians to participate. It’s more than a meal—it’s a moment to make an impact.

A portion of every food and beverage sale that day will go to Ronald McDonald House Charities® Canada (RMHC®) and other local children's charities. Every order you place helps families with sick or injured children stay close during tough times.

Small Acts, Big Impact

From Big Macs to coffees, every purchase helps. Franchisee Marcia Finlayson says McHappy Day is about more than fundraising—it's about community.

“Every order makes a difference,” she says. “It supports families right in our neighbourhood.”

Four Ways to Support on McHappy Day

There are plenty of easy and meaningful ways to get involved:

  • Order Your Favourites
Visit any McDonald's location, use the Drive-Thru, or order through the McDonald's app. Every purchase counts.
  • Free McDelivery®
Enjoy $0 delivery fee* through the McDonald’s app, DoorDash, SKIP, or UberEats. Giving back never tasted so good.
  • Round Up for Good
Round up your total at checkout and donate the difference to RMHC. Every cent goes toward helping families.
  • Buy Socks or Hearts
Choose from four McHappy Day sock designs or purchase a paper heart in-store. Donate $2, $5, or $10 to show your support.

Every Bite Brings Hope

Chief Marketing Officer Francesca Cardarelli reminds us how simple it is to make a difference.

“Every bite you take helps provide support to families in crisis,” she says. “We’re proud to feed and foster our communities every day.”

Even beyond McHappy Day, ongoing purchases of Happy Meals, RMHC Cookies, and kiosk donations continue to support the cause.

$100 Million and Counting

McHappy Day has helped raise more than $100 million over the past 30 years. These funds have provided support to nearly half a million families across Canada.

Yet, the need continues to grow.

Today, RMHC can only support 1 in 5 families who need a place to stay during their child's treatment. Space and availability are still major challenges.

Your participation on May 8 helps RMHC expand and reach more families who need their programs the most.

Why It Matters

RMHC helps families stay close to their children during medical treatments. With 16 Ronald McDonald Houses and 19 Family Room programs across the country, the charity offers meals, mental health support, and comfort during the toughest times.

Two out of three families in Canada live outside cities with children's hospitals. RMHC gives these families a place to stay and the support they need.

One Meal Can Make a Difference

So, mark your calendar. This Thursday, May 8, join McDonald’s in making a meaningful difference.

Grab your favourites, round up your total, or grab a pair of limited-edition socks. Because on McHappy Day, every order counts—and every act of kindness matters.
