India has firmly denied US President Donald Trump’s boast of mediating the recent ceasefire with Pakistan. Indian officials called his remarks “characteristic hyperbole,” clarifying that no third-party played a role.

Ceasefire Was Bilateral, Not Brokered

President Trump, in multiple posts on his social media platform, claimed the US brokered a “full and immediate ceasefire.” He praised the leadership of both nations and even suggested his intervention prevented a massive loss of life.

But Indian officials quickly shot down the claim.

Senior Indian government sources, cited by news agency PTI, confirmed the ceasefire happened because of direct talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan. No American involvement occurred. “There was no need for third-party intervention,” a government source told PTI. The agreement was strictly bilateral.

India Stresses Its Own Military Message

Officials also said that Washington had merely acknowledged India’s strong military response. It was this pressure, not diplomacy, that forced Pakistan to seek a de-escalation.

“Our job is to hit targets, not count body bags,” Indian forces said during a press briefing.

That blunt statement summed up India’s stance—strong action, clear message, and no backdoor deals.

Pakistan Looks to the US—India Doesn't

Pakistan’s leaders have been praising Trump’s supposed role in the truce. Indian officials see this as an effort by Pakistan to save face internationally.

India, however, stood firm. It kept all communication within military channels. No outside help was needed or requested. Secretary of State Marco Rubio echoed Trump’s claims, but India didn’t budge from its version of events.

The Ministry of External Affairs stayed silent on Trump’s comments but allowed the facts to speak for themselves.

History Repeats, But India's Policy Remains Firm

Former Indian diplomats noted that Washington often calls both countries during tense times. But they emphasized that India has never accepted third-party involvement, especially on Kashmir.

That policy hasn’t changed.

The ceasefire, announced on Saturday, followed days of cross-border shelling after a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam. Despite the global attention and Trump’s tweets, the ceasefire came only after direct military-level dialogue.

India’s Position Is Clear and Confident

India’s reaction was neither defensive nor diplomatic. It was confident and clear.

There was no US hand in the ceasefire. No mediation. No backchannel diplomacy.

India acted on its own terms, stayed in control, and achieved de-escalation through strength—not storytelling.
