Fans of the long-loved sitcom Friends remember Ross Geller’s famous “Moist Maker” sandwich. The extra slice of gravy-soaked bread in the middle made it unforgettable. The idea came from his sister Monica, who always knew how to elevate leftovers.
Now, a major food brand plans to help people recreate that sandwich at home with far less mess.
A New Bottle for a Holiday Favourite
Heinz introduced its first squeezable gravy bottle. The company says the new design makes it easier to enjoy leftover meals after Thanksgiving. Each bottle holds 12 ounces of Heinz Homestyle Turkey Gravy. The gravy comes only in turkey flavour for now, even though the brand also sells other varieties in jars.
The squeezable bottle is available only through Walmart’s website. Fans who place an order for a regular jar of Heinz Homestyle Turkey Gravy will receive a special Heinz Leftover Gravy Kit while supplies last. The kit includes the squeezable bottle and a recipe card that explains how to build the famous leftover sandwich.
Nostalgia Meets Convenience
The Moist Maker appeared on television in 1998, yet it continues to influence food trends decades later. Each fall, people share their own versions of the sandwich on TikTok. Videos often show detailed steps, but until now, no quick-squeeze gravy option existed.
By tapping into this cultural memory, Heinz hopes to remind people how important gravy remains during the holiday season — not just on the main day, but during the leftovers that follow.
Why the Company Created It
Jamie Mack, associate director of brand communications for Heinz U.S., shared the company’s thinking. “While Heinz Gravy has always been a fan favorite on the Thanksgiving table, we decided to focus our attention on the day-after ritual — because we all know leftovers are the best part, and our unmistakably rich and smooth gravy makes them that much better.”
Mack also said the new product celebrates fans who feel a special attachment to the Moist Maker. “Now, Heinz is celebrating the fans who share an irrational love of the nostalgic sandwich by providing the key to a delicious day-after sandwich: Heinz Leftover Gravy.”
A Simple, Familiar Flavour
Heinz’s Homestyle Turkey Gravy uses real turkey broth. The recipe includes salt, onion powder, and black pepper. The flavour works well with standard holiday leftovers, whether stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, or roasted vegetables. The company hopes the squeezable format will encourage people to enjoy the gravy in more ways than before.
The launch offers both a nod to a beloved pop-culture moment and a practical tool for people who enjoy building towering leftover sandwiches in their own kitchens.
