Emergency crews rush to a multi-vehicle crash at Pearson International Airport on Nov. 20, 2025, where several people were hurt. CTV
A busy morning at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport turned chaotic Thursday when a multi-vehicle crash injured several pedestrians outside Terminal 3. Police said the collision may have been triggered by a medical episode involving one of the drivers. The crash happened just before 7 a.m., during a period when airport traffic is typically heavy.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene within minutes. Firefighters, paramedics and police officers worked together to secure the area, treat the injured and assess the vehicles involved. The crash included six cars and sent five pedestrians to the ground. Officers said all five suffered minor injuries.
Multiple People Taken to Hospital
Paramedics transported three people to hospital for further care. Two others received treatment on site. Police said all drivers stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. They continue to look into what may have caused the sudden collision.
Photos taken at the scene showed emergency vehicles lined up outside the terminal. One car appeared to have slammed into a large planter near the curb. Debris scattered across the pavement as crews guided bystanders away from the damaged area.
Airport Operations Continue Smoothly
Airport officials issued a brief statement to travellers after the crash. They confirmed the incident took place outside Terminal 3 but said it did not affect airport operations. Flights continued on schedule, and ground traffic moved normally once the area was cleared.
Travellers in the terminal described the scene as tense but orderly. Some said they saw people helping each other while crews treated the injured. Others reported hearing a loud bang before seeing vehicles pushed out of position.
Investigation Still Underway
Police said the medical episode remains a key part of their investigation, though they did not release further details. Officers will review video footage, interview witnesses and examine the vehicles as part of their work.
By late morning, the area reopened to travellers. Crews towed the damaged vehicles and removed barriers that had temporarily blocked access to parts of the curb lane near the terminal entrance.
The incident serves as a reminder that even quick medical emergencies can result in sudden, dangerous situations on busy roads. Officers thanked travellers and airport staff for staying clear of the scene and allowing crews to work without interruption.Community Relief After Minor Injuries
Despite the dramatic scene, officials expressed relief that the injuries were minor. With thousands of people passing through Pearson each morning, the outcome could have been far worse. Police expect to release more information once they complete their investigation.
