Actor Kiefer Sutherland was arrested in Los Angeles early Monday following an alleged altercation with a ride-share driver, according to police.
The Los Angeles Police Department said officers responded around 12:15 a.m. to a report near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue in Hollywood. Authorities allege that Sutherland entered a ride-share vehicle, physically assaulted the driver and made criminal threats during the incident. Police confirmed that neither party was injured.
Sutherland, 59, was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of making criminal threats under California law. He was later released after posting a $50,000 bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 2. The case remains under investigation by the LAPD’s Hollywood Division.
Representatives for Sutherland did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The British-Canadian actor is best known for his Emmy-winning role as counterterrorism agent Jack Bauer on the Fox series 24, as well as appearances in films including Stand By Me, The Lost Boys and A Few Good Men. He is the son of late actor Donald Sutherland.
Sutherland has faced legal issues in the past, including arrests related to driving under the influence and prior assault allegations, though some charges were later dismissed.
