Charley Crockett performing after Canada tour cancellation
American country singer Charley Crockett has cancelled his entire Canadian tour after being denied entry into the country twice, forcing the abrupt scrapping of multiple scheduled performances, including a midweek show in Saskatoon.
Old Conviction Blocks Entry
The singer revealed on social media that the refusals in Vancouver and Kelowna were linked to a 2016 felony conviction in Virginia for distributing less than five pounds of marijuana. Crockett said attempting to cross the border again could risk future travel eligibility, leaving him with no choice but to call off the tour.
“Everybody’s got a past. Mine’s still haunting me,” he wrote, expressing disappointment over the situation.
Fans and Opening Act Affected
Saskatchewan group Jake Vaadeland and the Sturgeon River Boys, who were set to open several shows, also shared their regret at missing the performances. Ticket holders will receive full refunds.
Rising Career Momentum Interrupted
The cancellation comes at a high point in Crockett’s career. His album Dollar a Day earned a 2026 Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Country Album, and his next record, Age of the Ram, is scheduled for release in April.
Hope for a Return
Apologizing to fans for the disruption and lost time and money, Crockett said he intends to return to Canada in the future if travel issues can be resolved.
