Student protests have emerged on numerous college campuses in response to the Israel-Hamas conflict, gaining momentum after the recent arrest of over 100 demonstrators at Columbia University.

Students are demanding that universities disassociate themselves from any entities supporting Israel's military actions in Gaza, and in some instances, from Israel altogether.

These protests, organized by coalitions of student groups, have spread independently across campuses, with students drawing inspiration from their counterparts at other universities.

Here's a summary of recent protests on various campuses:

**COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY:**

Pro-Palestinian student demonstrators established a tent encampment at Columbia University in New York. Police attempted to dismantle the encampment on April 18, resulting in the arrest of over 100 protesters. However, this action sparked solidarity among students nationwide and motivated Columbia protesters to regroup. University officials announced an extension of the deadline for protesters to disperse, with conditions including the removal of tents and a commitment to respectful conduct.

**UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA:**

Protests at the University of Southern California led to the cancellation of the main graduation ceremony due to safety concerns. Over 90 individuals were arrested for alleged trespassing during a demonstration, prompting the closure of the campus.

**THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN:**

A demonstration at the University of Texas at Austin resulted in dozens of arrests, with police dispersing protesters from the main lawn. Subsequent protests were permitted, albeit under heightened security measures.

**GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY:**

Approximately 50 students at George Washington University established a tent encampment, demanding the university sever ties with Israel and revoke the suspension of a pro-Palestinian student group.

**HARVARD UNIVERSITY:**

Harvard University implemented security measures to prevent protests on campus, but students still erected tents in protest against the suspension of a pro-Palestinian student committee.

**CALIFORNIA STATE POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY, HUMBOLDT:**

Protesters at California State Polytechnic University used various means to block entrances to buildings, resulting in the closure of the campus. Negotiations between university officials and protesters were ongoing.

**EMERSON COLLEGE:**

A significant number of individuals were arrested during protests at Emerson College in Boston, prompting campus police to offer escort services to students.

**NEW YORK UNIVERSITY:**

An encampment at New York University saw the arrest of 133 protesters, all released with summonses for disorderly conduct charges.

**EMORY UNIVERSITY:**

Atlanta police dismantled a camp at Emory University, leading to multiple arrests. Protesters opposed a public safety training center and showed solidarity with Palestinians.

**NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY:**

Northwestern University prohibited tents on campus after student activists set up an encampment, with warnings of disciplinary actions for violators.

**YALE UNIVERSITY:**

Protests at Yale University continued, with a decrease in participation since earlier arrests for trespassing.

**FASHION INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY:**

Protesters occupied a building at the Fashion Institute of Technology, expressing solidarity with Palestinians.

**THE CITY COLLEGE OF NEW YORK:**

Students at The City College of New York established an encampment, resulting in a confrontation with law enforcement.

**INDIANA UNIVERSITY BLOOMINGTON:**

Police arrested protesters at Indiana University Bloomington, leading to videos circulating on social media.

**MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY EAST LANSING CAMPUS:**

Tents appeared at Michigan State University's campus, with students engaging in chants and discussions with the university president.

**UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT:**

Police dismantled an encampment at the University of Connecticut, resulting in the arrest of one protester.

These protests reflect the growing student activism in response to the Israel-Hamas conflict, with demonstrators advocating for institutional accountability and solidarity with Palestinians.
