MSI Unveils Support for AMD Ryzen™ 9000 Series Processors / MSI Photo

MSI has introduced cutting-edge server platforms featuring 4th generation AMD EPYC processors at the Computex 2024 event. These new platforms offer scalability and flexibility, thanks to their utilization of CXL technology and DC-MHS architecture. According to Danny Hsu, the general manager of enterprise platform solutions at MSI, these advancements empower data centers to deploy highly scalable cloud applications while achieving industry-leading performance.

One of MSI's innovative offerings is the new CXL Memory Expansion Server, which redefines high-performance computing. This server is specifically designed for data-intensive workloads and in-memory databases. It is powered by dual-socket 4th Gen AMD EPYC CPUs, with provisions for select next-gen AMD EPYC CPUs. The server is equipped with CXL 2.0 standards, 24 DDR5 DIMM slots, and two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots. Additionally, it features eight E3.S 2T drive bays for CXL memory and eight E3.S 1T drive bays for NVMe storage, enabling memory expansion of up to 8TB.

MSI has collaborated with leading technology players such as AMD, Samsung, and Micron to advance Compute Express Link (CXL) solutions for intensive AI training and high-performance computing (HPC) applications. The company's partnership has resulted in the development of innovative GPU platforms tailored for the AI and cloud markets.

One such offering is the 4U 4-GPU G4101, a high-performance rack-mount workstation powered by a single AMD EPYC 9004 processor with liquid cooling. This workstation supports 12 DDR5 RDIMM slots and four PCIe 5.0 x16 slots for triple-slot GPUs. It also features 12 2.5-inch U.2 NVMe/SATA drive bays, along with airflow spacing and closed-loop liquid cooling for optimal thermal management.

Another noteworthy platform is the CX271-S4056, a 2U all-flash system designed to accommodate two double-width slots for GPU cards. It features a single-socket AMD EPYC 9004 Series processor, two OCP NIC 3.0 mezzanine slots, and up to 24 2.5-inch NVMe PCIe 5.0 U.2 drive bays. This platform is optimized for applications such as AI inference, offering superior processing speeds and performance.

MSI also offers multi-node server platforms, including the CD360-S4051-X2 and CD260-S4051-X4, designed for high-density cloud and data center environments. The CD360-S4051-X2 is a 3U, 2-node server platform, while the CD260-S4051-X4 is a 2U, 4-node server platform. These platforms support next-generation high-TDP server processors and feature a range of advanced functionalities, including DDR5 RDIMM slots, PCIe slots for GPU cards, and multiple NVMe drive bays.

Overall, MSI's new server platforms represent a significant advancement in high-performance computing, offering scalability, flexibility, and industry-leading performance for data centers and cloud environments. These platforms leverage the latest technologies and collaborative efforts with industry leaders to deliver cutting-edge solutions for AI training, HPC, and other demanding workloads.
