Adam Sandler’s daughters, Sadie and Sunny, are back on screen. They appear in Happy Gilmore 2, which premiered Friday, July 25. The comedy legend, now 58, returns as Happy Gilmore almost three decades after the original movie came out. This time, it’s a family affair.
Sunny, 16, plays Vienna, Happy’s daughter in the film. Sadie, 19, appears as a character named Charlotte. Their real-life mother, Jackie Sandler, also has a small role. This marks another film where the Sandler family acts together.
The Sandler Sisters’ Acting Journey
Sadie and Sunny have acted in several movies with their dad. The two starred in You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah (2023), which got a lot of attention. They’ve also appeared in Leo (2023), Hubie Halloween (2020), and Murder Mystery (2019). With each movie, their screen time and performances have grown stronger.
Famous Moments Beyond the Screen
The sisters have gone viral for reasons outside of acting too. In 2022, Sunny’s bat mitzvah party made waves online. A TikTok video showed clips of the celebration, which included star guests and performances by singers Charlie Puth and Halsey.
Later that same year, the girls helped their dad in an unexpected way. When Adam was honored at the Gotham Awards, they wrote his speech for him. He joked about it on stage, saying, “It would be nice to see you do something other than watch YouTube or go to (expletive) Lululemon every (expletive) weekend.”
Sandler Reflects on His Daughters’ Growth
Adam Sandler has spoken with pride about working with his kids. He shared that watching them grow and take acting seriously means a lot to him. “They really are into acting and movies,” he said. “They work hard and go to school for it... I’m just proud. Couldn’t love them more.”
The actor has long enjoyed working with friends and family. He said this tradition makes his movie sets feel special.
What’s the Sequel About?
In Happy Gilmore 2, Happy is no longer playing golf. He gave it up after a personal loss. But now he needs $300,000 to pay for Vienna’s ballet school in Paris. That pushes him back into the sport he once ruled.
While back on the course, Happy faces off with old rival Shooter McGavin (played by Christopher McDonald). He also tries to save the sport from a flashy new version pushed by energy drink tycoon Frank Manatee (played by Benny Safdie).
The Sandler Family Keeps It Real
This film highlights how close the Sandler family really is. From their funny speeches to viral parties and serious roles, Sadie and Sunny are making names for themselves. Their dad may be the star, but they’re starting to shine too.
