Adani Airport Holdings has officially ended its partnership with Turkish ground handling firm Celebi at Mumbai and Ahmedabad airports. This decision follows the Indian government’s move to revoke Celebi’s security clearance.
Sudden Exit After Government Revokes Security Clearance
The termination of the ground handling concession was made with immediate effect. A spokesperson from Adani Airports confirmed the action, stating that Celebi was directed to hand over all ground handling facilities without delay. This step ensures that airport services remain uninterrupted at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) in Ahmedabad.
Seamless Transition to New Ground Handling Agencies
Despite the abrupt end to the agreement, operations at both airports will continue smoothly. Adani Airport has already lined up new ground handling agencies. These will take over responsibilities to maintain uninterrupted service for airlines and passengers. The transition is structured to avoid any operational hiccups.
Celebi Employees to Retain Jobs and Benefits
To ease the transition, Adani has announced that all existing Celebi staff at CSMIA and SVPIA will be transferred to the new service providers. Importantly, these employees will retain their current terms and conditions of employment. This move reflects Adani’s commitment to workforce stability and operational consistency.
Unwavering Commitment to Service Standards
Adani Airports emphasized that its commitment to high service standards remains unchanged. “Ground handling operations will remain unaffected. We are fully committed to upholding the highest standards of service and national interest,” the spokesperson affirmed.
Adani’s Expanding Airport Portfolio
Adani Airport Holdings, which manages seven airports across India, including Mangalore, Guwahati, Jaipur, Lucknow, and Thiruvananthapuram, reaffirmed its ability to handle transitions effectively. The company highlighted its extensive experience in managing major airports as a strong foundation for ensuring service continuity.
National Interest a Driving Force
The decision to end Celebi’s contract was not just a business move. It was guided by national security concerns. The Indian government’s revocation of Celebi’s clearance prompted Adani to act swiftly in the interest of national safety and passenger security.
Looking Ahead
As the new agencies take charge, the focus remains on providing top-tier services. Adani Airport Holdings assures all stakeholders—passengers, airlines, and airport staff—that operations will remain efficient and uninterrupted during and after this transition.
The end of the Adani-Celebi partnership marks a significant shift in ground handling at two of India’s busiest airports. With a strong transition plan in place, Adani Airports is ensuring that service quality, employee welfare, and national interest remain top priorities.
