Angelina Jolie turned heads in Paris on Monday night as she attended the premiere of her upcoming film, Couture. The 50-year-old actor arrived glowing and confident, wearing a daring yet elegant naked-style mesh dress that quickly became the focus of the evening.
The gown featured delicate silver floral details, soft fringe accents, and short sleeves. Jolie completed the look with classic black stilettos and simple diamond earrings. She styled her blonde hair in a smooth blowout, keeping the overall appearance refined and understated.
Film brings Jolie back to Paris spotlight
Jolie stars in Couture alongside Ella Rumpf, Anyier Anei, and Louis Garrel. The film centres on Maxine, an American filmmaker who travels to Paris during Fashion Week. The story follows her emotional and personal journey as she faces life-changing challenges while discovering new meaning in her life.
According to the film’s synopsis, “American filmmaker Maxine arrives in Paris for Fashion Week on a life-and-death journey, facing challenges and self-discovery.” The role held special meaning for Jolie, who felt deeply connected to the character’s experience.
Personal story behind the role
Jolie revealed that the film touched her on a very personal level due to Maxine’s breast cancer journey. Her own mother, Marcheline Bertrand, died in 2007 after battling ovarian and breast cancer for several years. That loss had a lasting impact on Jolie’s life and health decisions.

Jolie later learned she carried the BRCA1 gene mutation, which greatly increased her risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer. As a result, she chose to undergo a double mastectomy and later had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed.
She told TIME France that the film was a “very personal story” for her and praised director Alice Winocour for approaching the topic “with such delicacy.”
A different way to tell a cancer story
Jolie explained why the project stood out to her. “Too often, films about women's struggles – especially cancer – talk about endings and sadness, rarely about life,” she said. “Hardships, illnesses, and pain are part of our existence, but what matters is how we face them.”
She also shared a moving memory from her mother’s illness. “My mother was ill for years. One evening, when she was being asked about her chemotherapy, she became very emotional and told me she would have preferred to talk about something else; she felt as though the illness was becoming her entire identity,” Jolie recalled.
A role that celebrates life
Jolie said the film’s focus on strength and humanity drew her in. “I love this film because it tells a story that goes far beyond the journey of a sick person: it shows life. It was this luminous perspective that touched me and made me want to play this role.”
With a powerful story and a striking appearance on the Paris red carpet, Jolie’s return has already sparked strong interest ahead of the film’s release.
