Angelina Jolie is asking Brad Pitt to withdraw his lawsuit against her as their ongoing legal battle intensifies. The actress, known for her role in "Maleficent," filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016 after two years of marriage, and since then, the couple has been involved in a contentious civil case concerning their shared French estate and vineyard, Château Miraval.
Recently, Jolie requested the court to compel Pitt to provide any communications he has related to a 2016 incident on a private plane. During this incident, she previously alleged that Pitt choked one of their six children: Maddox (22), Pax (20), Zahara (19), Shiloh (18), and twins Vivienne and Knox (16). Pitt's legal team responded sharply, calling Jolie's request a "sensationalist fishing expedition" that delves into deeply personal matters.
In a statement from July 17, Jolie's attorney expressed their expectation that Pitt might be reluctant to share the requested documents. They emphasized that unless Pitt drops his lawsuit, Jolie has no option but to seek evidence to counter his claims. "Angelina is asking Mr. Pitt to stop the fighting and focus on healing for the family," her lawyer stated.

Pitt's representatives have refrained from commenting on the current dispute. However, Pitt's attorney, Anne Kiley, had previously asserted that he has taken responsibility for his actions and will not accept blame for things he did not do. She pointed out that Pitt has faced numerous personal attacks and misrepresentations.
The legal disagreements also revolve around the sale of Jolie's shares in Château Miraval. Pitt has accused her of selling her interests without his consent, which he claims violates a verbal agreement they had. In contrast, Jolie's legal team argues that she sold her shares due to Pitt presenting a last-minute, restrictive non-disclosure agreement during the buyout negotiations.
According to Jolie's filing, she was not required to sell to Pitt but offered her interest nonetheless. However, negotiations broke down when Pitt made unreasonable demands, including conditions that would silence Jolie regarding their marriage's breakdown.

In 2022, Jolie's holding company, Nouvel, countersued Pitt, claiming he was trying to take control of Château Miraval for himself. The countersuit accused Pitt of launching a prolonged campaign to dominate the estate, leveraging the ongoing divorce and custody issues.
A source close to Pitt dismissed Jolie's countersuit as a mere rehash of past issues intended to distract from her behavior. In Pitt's latest court filing, his attorneys argued that Jolie's request to review communications about the plane incident is unnecessary and that the dispute is fundamentally about business rather than family law. They requested that the court deny Jolie's motion.
As both sides continue to clash in court, Jolie remains hopeful that a resolution can be reached that prioritizes the well-being of their family. The couple's ongoing legal saga highlights the complexities often involved in high-profile divorces, especially when significant assets and personal matters are at stake.
