Apple is said to be delving into a new realm of products, with reports indicating that the tech giant based in Cupertino is actively developing a foldable device. The speculations surrounding this potential device suggest that it may boast a larger screen in comparison to the majority of foldable smartphones currently available in the market. Sources have hinted that the design and functionality could resemble the latest iPad Mini, providing users with a unique and versatile device.

According to a report by The Elec, Apple's venture into the foldable device arena seems to be focused on a smartphone with an expansive display. The inner screen of this rumored book-style foldable is estimated to measure between 7.6 and 8.4 inches, potentially offering a significantly larger viewing area than traditional smartphones.

If these reports hold true, Apple's foray into foldable technology could mark the debut of their first foldable smartphone or tablet. The timeline for the launch of this alleged device is projected to be around 2026 or 2027, according to the same report by The Elec.

The purported size of Apple's foldable smartphone has sparked speculation that it could serve as a replacement for the iPad Mini, which underwent a refresh in 2021, featuring an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina IPS LCD screen. The current model is priced starting at Rs. 49,900 in India and is equipped with the A15 Bionic chipset. Available in 64GB and 256GB storage variants, it comes in Pink, Purple, Starlight, and Space Grey color options.

Earlier reports have suggested that Apple is also in the process of upgrading the iPad Mini, potentially incorporating an OLED display. The anticipated model, rumored to launch in 2026, is expected to boast an 8.7-inch screen – 0.4 inches larger than the current iPad Mini model. Despite the increase in size, it is speculated to maintain its status as the smallest iPad in Apple's lineup.
