"Big Bang Theory" (CBS)
Fans of The Big Bang Theory have reason to celebrate! A new spinoff centered around Barry Kripke, the witty and sharp-tongued Caltech physicist, is currently in early development at Max. Actor John Ross Bowie is set to reprise his role as the fan-favorite character, known for his rivalry with Sheldon Cooper and his distinct speech impediment.
While the project hasn’t received an official greenlight yet, Bowie has signed a holding deal with Warner Bros. Television. This ensures his availability once the show moves forward, according to sources close to the production.
The upcoming series is being developed by Chuck Lorre Productions in collaboration with Warner Bros. Television. Chuck Lorre, the mastermind behind The Big Bang Theory, will return as an executive producer and writer. He will be joined by Zak Penn and Bill Prady, promising a strong creative team. However, specific plot details remain under wraps.
Alongside Bowie, other familiar faces from the Big Bang universe are expected to return. Kevin Sussman (Stuart Bloom), Brian Posehn (Bert Kibbler), and Lauren Lapkus (Denise) are all in talks to join the spinoff, adding to the excitement.

Barry Kripke first appeared in The Big Bang Theory during its second season. His character quickly became a fan favorite, thanks to his relentless teasing of Sheldon Cooper and his memorable speech patterns. Over time, Kripke became a recurring presence, playing a key role throughout the show’s 12-season run.
Outside of The Big Bang Theory, John Ross Bowie has had a successful career in television and film. His notable projects include Speechless, Children’s Hospital, Jumanji: The Next Level, and another Chuck Lorre comedy, United States of Al.
This latest spinoff follows in the footsteps of Young Sheldon, which wrapped up last year after a successful seven-season run. With The Big Bang Theory still holding a special place in fans' hearts, this new project is expected to generate plenty of buzz. Stay tuned for more updates as development progresses!
