“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” Claims Third Weekend at the Box Office
In a remarkable run, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” continues to dominate the North American box office, securing the top spot for the third consecutive weekend. The film, a follow-up to Tim Burton's beloved 1988 horror comedy, brought in $26 million in ticket sales, as estimated by studios on Sunday.
Hot on its heels was the animated release “Transformers: One,” which garnered $25 million. This new take on the Optimus Prime story features a star-studded voice cast, including Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, and Scarlett Johansson.
The Warner Bros. release, featuring the return of Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder, has exceeded $226 million in domestic earnings over its three-week run. It kicked off with a stunning $110 million opening—ranking as the third-best debut of the year—followed by a strong second weekend with $51.6 million.
In third place, the horror film “Speak No Evil,” starring James McAvoy, earned $5.9 million in its second week, bringing its total to $21.5 million.
Overall, the box office has entered a quieter phase, but excitement is building for the upcoming release of “Joker: Folie à Deux,” set to hit theaters on October 4.
Remaining in the top five, “Deadpool & Wolverine” continued its impressive performance in its ninth weekend, earning an additional $3.9 million and totaling $627 million domestically. Only Pixar's “Inside Out 2” has surpassed it in earnings this year.
