Billie Eilish began 2025 with a major achievement as her song "Birds of a Feather" surpassed all others to become the most-streamed track on Spotify. The song, from her third album Hit Me Hard and Soft, reached an impressive 1,775,172,881 streams, narrowly beating Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso,” which accumulated 1,774,525,704 streams.
"Birds of a Feather" continued Eilish's streak of success after its release in May. The track, which became a fan favorite, even reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. As the year progresses, it continues to gain recognition, with Eilish preparing to take the stage at the upcoming Grammy Awards, where the song is nominated in multiple categories. It is up for Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance.

The song’s success came on the heels of Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft album, which generated a lot of buzz. Following the album’s release, the pop star spent much of the fall touring North America. The tour kicked off in Canada before heading through the United States, and ultimately ended with five sold-out shows at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. During the final concert, Eilish treated fans to a special holiday moment by singing “O Holy Night.” She shared with the crowd, “I’m not really religious. I just love Christmas so much. I also grew up in a choir, so that’s just my schtick.”

Eilish’s brother and long-time collaborator, Finneas, reflected on the unexpected success of “Birds of a Feather.” He admitted that while they always hoped for the song’s success, he wasn’t entirely convinced it would take off as it did. “In some ways, I’m sort of extra-mistrustful when people tell me that they think something’s gonna be a big hit,” Finneas said. “It feels like jinxing it—usually, people say that about stuff that sounds like something else that already exists.” However, he noted that each time they played the song for the label or their close friends, they were met with excitement, hinting that the track had something special.

“Birds of a Feather” continues to break barriers, and its success proves just how far Eilish has come since her earlier hits like "Bad Guy." Despite any initial doubts, the song quickly became a fan favorite, cementing its place in the hearts of many listeners.

The impressive streaming numbers not only showcase Eilish’s growing influence in the music world but also highlight her consistent ability to produce chart-topping hits that resonate with a broad audience.
