The Boston Bruins are exploring trade options, with Pavel Zacha emerging as a key name in the discussion. The team’s recent losses have hurt their playoff chances, prompting management to consider roster changes. Earlier, the Bruins traded Trent Frederic and Max Jones to the Edmonton Oilers on March 4, and more moves could follow.
Recently, several Bruins players like Morgan Geekie, Brandon Carlo, and Justin Brazeau were linked to trade rumors. Now, attention is shifting toward forwards Pavel Zacha and Charlie Coyle.
According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Bruins are open to hearing offers for both players.
Pavel Zacha Could Attract Playoff Contenders
Pavel Zacha, 27, is likely to draw attention from teams seeking offensive depth. Drafted in the first round in 2015, Zacha can play both center and wing. This versatility makes him an appealing option for a middle-six role on a playoff contender.
Zacha is signed through the 2026-27 season with a $4.75 million cap hit. His recent performance also boosts his trade value. In his last 18 games, he scored three goals and collected 17 points. For the season, Zacha has 12 goals and 38 points in 63 games.
The Bruins will likely expect significant returns for Zacha. He is considered one of Boston’s top forwards, has multiple years remaining on his contract, and has been heating up as the season progresses.
Coyle Trade Could Be Complicated
Charlie Coyle presents a different challenge for potential trades. The veteran center has a full no-movement clause (NMC) and a three-team no-trade list, limiting his trade flexibility. Additionally, Coyle carries a $5.25 million cap hit through next season.
Performance-wise, Coyle has struggled this year. After posting career highs with 25 goals and 60 points last season, he currently has 15 goals and 22 points. His minus-14 rating further reflects a down year compared to his previous campaign.
Bruins Looking to Reshape the Roster
The Bruins’ willingness to consider offers for Zacha and Coyle underscores a desire to adapt midseason. Both players could appeal to playoff-bound teams in need of offensive support or experienced depth down the middle.
While Zacha offers younger versatility and steady production, Coyle is a riskier trade target due to his contract terms and NMC. Still, Boston appears ready to explore options that could strengthen the team for the long term.
Trade Deadline Moves Expected
With the trade deadline approaching, more Bruins names may surface in speculation. Zacha and Coyle join the growing list of potential movers as the team looks to improve its playoff positioning. Management seems prepared to make bold decisions to maximize return on key players while addressing roster needs.
