Cameron Diaz is back in action, quite literally, with her new Netflix film "Back In Action" alongside Jamie Foxx. This marks her first movie in a decade. In a recent interview on The Graham Norton Show, Diaz shared that it was Foxx who persuaded her to return to Hollywood after a long break from acting.
Diaz admitted that for the past ten years, she had been focused on life outside of the spotlight, saying, "I had 10 years of not paying attention to anything." During that time, she turned down numerous opportunities. However, when the script for Back In Action came her way, she felt it was the right moment to return to the big screen.
She had nothing but praise for her co-star, Foxx, saying, "If I was going to leave my family for 10 hours a day, I wanted to do it with the most talented man in the entertainment business." The two actors share a long history, having worked together in films like Any Given Sunday (1999) and Annie (2014), cementing their strong friendship.
Although Diaz has been absent from the movie scene, she hasn’t been idle. In the last decade, she embraced her role as a wife and mother, raising two children with her husband, musician Benji Madden. Alongside her family life, Diaz also pursued business ventures and even became a published author.
Reflecting on her time away from acting, Diaz shared, "I loved those 10 years for me and my family." But she also knew that if she didn’t seize the opportunity to return to acting, she’d be making a mistake. "If I let this go away, if I don’t engage again, and if I don’t give it a chance, I am a fool," she confessed.
Now that she’s back in front of the camera, Diaz seems to be cherishing her return to filmmaking. She expressed her gratitude, saying, "It is a privilege to make films, and we are all so lucky to do what we do." Diaz also acknowledged how fortunate she was that the doors to Hollywood had remained open for her after so many years. "That the door was even open for me after a decade was amazing."
As Diaz makes her comeback in Back In Action, she shows no signs of slowing down, with her passion for acting still strong after her break. Fans are excited to see the actress back on screen, and her partnership with Foxx is sure to make this reunion one to remember.
