Groups nationwide prepare for what they deem the most significant LGBTQ+ mobilization since the fight for marriage equality. Led by the Society of Queer Momentum, rallies scheduled for May aim to prompt government action, including funding for LGBTQ+ support.

The Rainbow Week of Action will feature events in major cities like Toronto on May 16, followed by Calgary, Edmonton, and Ottawa on May 17, with more in other areas. Fae Johnstone, president of the Society of Queer Momentum, emphasizes the urgency amid misinformation spread by far-right groups and politicians, calling for a unified voice for equality.

The initiative also addresses regional concerns, such as proposed restrictions on gender-affirming care in Alberta and similar challenges in Saskatchewan and New Brunswick.

Johnstone underscores the importance of holding governments accountable and pushing for tangible progress in all provinces.
