Police in Montreal have arrested a man who had been listed as Canada’s most wanted fugitive for several months.

Authorities identified the suspect as Bryan Fuentes Gramajo, a 24-year-old man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting in Toronto last year. Officers took him into custody early Thursday morning in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie neighbourhood of Montreal.

The arrest brings an important development in a high-profile investigation that began after a fatal shooting in the parking lot of a busy shopping centre.

Arrest Made Early Thursday Morning

Montreal police officers located and arrested Gramajo at approximately 2:40 a.m. on Thursday.

The arrest followed a nationwide warrant issued in connection with a homicide investigation led by Toronto police. Investigators believe Gramajo played a role in the July 17, 2025 shooting death that occurred in the parking area of Yorkdale Shopping Centre.

Police later placed his name at the top of Canada’s most wanted fugitives list in October 2025.

Officials confirmed that Gramajo will appear in court later Thursday afternoon to face legal proceedings connected to the case.

Cooperation Between Police Forces

Authorities highlighted cooperation between police services in Montreal and Toronto during the investigation.

“The SPVM is pleased to have contributed to the criminal investigation led by our partners at the Toronto Police Service by arresting Bryan Fuentes Gramajo on our territory,” said SPVM Commander Mélanie Dupont, head of the Major Crimes Section.

Investigators worked for several months to track the suspect’s movements before making the arrest.

Police say the case shows the importance of coordination between law enforcement agencies across the country.

Another Suspect Still Wanted

While police celebrate this arrest, authorities continue searching for another suspect connected to a separate homicide case.

Investigators continue to look for Dylan Denis, another Quebec resident whose name also appears on Canada’s most wanted list.

Police want Denis in connection with a May 14, 2024 homicide in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville area of Montreal.

Officials believe some members of the public may hold information that could help locate him.

“We are convinced that there are citizens who have information that would be very useful to our criminal investigation aimed at arresting Dylan Denis,” said Dupont.

Earlier Arrests Linked to the Case

Police have already arrested two other individuals as part of the broader investigation.

Officers detained a 25-year-old man in Saint-Jérôme. Authorities also arrested a 31-year-old man in Prince George, British Columbia, in June 2024.

Investigators continue to gather evidence while they pursue the remaining suspect.

Police Ask Public for Help

Authorities urge anyone with information about Dylan Denis or his possible location to contact police immediately.

Officials ask members of the public to call 911 or visit their nearest police station if they have details that could assist the investigation.

Police hope community cooperation will help bring the remaining suspect into custody.
