A mesmerizing new collector coin is set to dazzle enthusiasts and collectors alike, unveiled by the Royal Canadian Mint as part of their captivating series titled "This is Canada." Crafted in 99.99 percent silver, this coin stands as a tribute to the wondrous waters that grace Canada's coastlines, with its inaugural release showcasing the majestic Pacific coast.

Drawing inspiration from the diverse marine life and breathtaking landscapes of British Columbia, the coin features a stunning portrayal of a pod of orcas gracefully navigating the coastal waters. Against the backdrop of rocky islands and lush forested mountains, the scene captures the essence of the Pacific coast's unparalleled beauty.

Renowned artist Glen Green, hailing from Campbell River, poured his passion and admiration for his surroundings into this remarkable design. Reflecting on his deep connection to the West Coast, Green revealed, "As soon as I was granted the opportunity to create a design representing the West Coast, my mind immediately went to the majestic orca."

Indeed, living on Vancouver Island has afforded Green glimpses of these magnificent creatures during his travels, further fuelling his inspiration for the coin's design. His previous contributions to Canadian coinage, including the Vancouver 2010 Olympics quarters, underscore his talent and commitment to showcasing Canada's natural wonders.

On the obverse side of the coin, a timeless portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, crafted by Susanna Blunt, adds a touch of regal elegance. With a face value of $20, this exquisite piece is available for acquisition at $104.95 through mint's website, offering collectors a chance to own a piece of Canadian heritage.

The release of this Pacific coast coin marks the commencement of a four-part series, with subsequent editions dedicated to celebrating Canada's Arctic coast, Great Lakes, and Atlantic coast. Each coin promises to encapsulate the unique beauty and diversity of these coastal regions, offering collectors a captivating journey across Canada's maritime landscapes.

With only 7,500 Pacific Coast coins up for grabs, enthusiasts are urged to seize the opportunity to add this stunning piece to their collections before it becomes a coveted rarity.
