Cava is giving free pita chips to its Rewards members on March 29 for National Pita Day. USA TODAY

Cava, a popular Mediterranean fast-casual restaurant chain, is celebrating National Pita Day on Saturday, March 29, by giving away free pita chips to its loyalty program members. The company is also introducing a new character, Peter Chip, to mark the occasion.

All Cava Rewards members will receive a free pita chip reward in their accounts on March 29. The offer can be redeemed in restaurants or through digital orders at participating locations nationwide. To get the freebie, customers can either download the Cava app or sign up for the loyalty program on the company’s website.

In a fun twist, Cava is treating National Pita Day as Peter Chip’s "birthday." The brand's new playful mascot adds some personality to the promotion. "National Pita Day — aka my birthday — is coming up, and I couldn’t be more pumped!" Peter Chip said in a company statement. "As an Aries, I love a big celebration — and what better way to mark the occasion than by treating our loyal fans to complimentary pita chips, on me!"

Cava has been expanding rapidly. Earlier this month, the chain opened its first location in the Indianapolis metro area, bringing its presence to 26 states and Washington, D.C. A second location in Indianapolis is expected to open later this year.

According to Cava’s fourth-quarter earnings report, the company now operates 367 restaurants across the U.S. It opened 58 new locations in the 2024 fiscal year and aims to reach 1,000 restaurants by 2032.

Known for its fresh Mediterranean flavors, Cava serves customizable bowls, pitas, dips, and dressings. The brand focuses on offering healthy, flavorful meals, which has helped it gain a strong following.
