The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has expanded its recall of carrots due to potential E. coli O121 contamination. The updated recall, announced Friday, includes 365 Whole Foods Market brand carrots sold in British Columbia and Ontario.

The CFIA warned that E. coli contamination may not be visible or detectable by smell, but it can lead to serious health issues such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, and blood in the stool. In severe cases, it may result in kidney damage, seizures, strokes, or even death.

As of now, there have been no reported illnesses in Canada linked to the recalled carrots. This expanded recall follows an earlier notice issued on November 18 for other carrot brands.
