General Mills has stopped making three Cheerios flavors, the company confirmed this week. The flavors leaving shelves are Honey Nut Cheerios Medley Crunch, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheerios, and the 18-ounce box of Honey Nut Cheerios Minis.
You can still buy the Honey Nut Cheerios Minis, but only in the smaller 10.8-ounce size.
Why Did They Stop These Flavors?
A spokesperson explained the reason clearly. The company made this move because of different challenges. These include:
- Low demand from customers
- Trouble getting certain ingredients
- Supply issues that affect cost and quality
In short, the company couldn’t continue making these cereals in a way that kept the prices fair and the quality high.
Fans Noticed the Change
Cereal fans spotted the missing products before the company made an announcement. A cereal lover and Instagram user, Kayla Simonsen, first shared the news earlier this month. She follows cereal trends closely and keeps fans updated on what’s new and what’s disappearing.
But There’s Good News Too
While some flavors are gone, a favorite is making a comeback. General Mills is bringing back Frosted Lemon Cheerios this summer. The flavor will return for a limited time only. It came back because many people requested it.
The company said, “Much like Frosted Lemon Cheerios, which returned by popular demand, we continue to listen to our fans as we evolve our offerings.”
This means General Mills is open to hearing what customers want and may keep adjusting its cereal line based on feedback.
How to Find Your Favorite Cheerios
If you’re not sure whether your favorite Cheerios flavor is still in stores, General Mills has a helpful tool. You can use their online product locator to find stores near you that carry the flavors still in stock.
What’s Next?
Food companies like General Mills often change their product lineup. They try to balance what people want with what’s possible to produce. While it’s sad for fans to say goodbye to some cereals, others might return if demand grows.
In the meantime, cereal lovers can enjoy returning favorites like Frosted Lemon and keep an eye out for more updates.
