Health Canada says SC Johnson & Son, Inc. is recalling some of its Kids by Babyganics SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Totally Tropical in both its rollerball and continuous spray formats due to monoglyme being found in the products above the allowable limit. (Health Canada)

SC Johnson & Son, Inc. has issued a recall for its Children’s Sunscreen in Canada, Kids by Babyganics SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Totally Tropical. The recall applies to both the rollerball and continuous spray versions.

Harmful Solvent Detected

Health Canada discovered that the sunscreen contains monoglyme (1,2-dimethoxyethane) at levels exceeding the allowed limit. This solvent can enter the body through the skin or inhalation. Frequent exposure may lead to reproductive issues and harm fetal development.

Products to Avoid

The recall affects products with expiration dates of November 2025 and April 2026. Consumers are advised to stop using these sunscreens immediately.

Health Risks and Precautions

Health Canada urges individuals who have used the product to seek medical advice if they experience any health concerns. The agency is closely monitoring the recall and will update the public if further risks emerge.

Stay Informed

Consumers are encouraged to follow Health Canada’s updates to ensure their safety. It also warns not to use the sunscreen and to consult a healthcare professional if someone has used it and developed health concerns.
