A chocolate dessert sold at Costco stores in Canada has triggered a recall after officials discovered that the product may contain allergens not listed on its label.
The recall affects certain six-packs of chocolate mousse desserts that may contain cashew or macadamia nuts, ingredients that do not appear in the product’s ingredient list. Health officials warn that these hidden allergens could cause serious reactions for people who have allergies to these nuts.
Undeclared Allergens Raise Safety Concerns
A notice posted on Wednesday warned customers about the potential health risk.
“These allergens may cause severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reactions in sensitive individuals,” the notice said.
Food allergies can trigger strong reactions in some people, including breathing difficulties and other dangerous symptoms. Because the label does not mention these nuts, consumers with allergies may not know about the risk.
Dessert Product Included in the Recall
The recall involves a layered mousse dessert sold under the name “Delici Dubai Style Chocolate Dessert.” The product comes in packages containing six small cups, each weighing 76 grams.
The dessert includes ingredients such as pistachios, Belgian milk chocolate and kadayif, a type of shredded pastry often used in Middle Eastern sweets.
The company behind the product, Mellow Food, has started a voluntary recall of several batches after discovering the labelling issue.

Advice for Customers
Officials urge customers who purchased the dessert to check their refrigerators and freezers for the affected product.
Anyone who has an allergy or sensitivity to cashews or macadamia nuts should avoid eating the mousse. Even a small amount could trigger a serious reaction.
Consumers can return the recalled dessert to any Costco warehouse location to receive a full refund.
Food Safety Remains a Priority
Food recalls help remove potentially harmful products from store shelves and protect consumers. Retailers and manufacturers often act quickly when they discover possible health risks.
Customers with food allergies should always read ingredient labels carefully and stay alert for recall notices involving products they may have purchased.
