Cineplex is offering $5 tickets and $5 popcorn across Canada.

Cineplex is bringing back its popular Tuesday discounts, offering movie lovers an affordable way to enjoy films and snacks this winter.

Starting January 14 and running until February 11, Cineplex will sell general admission tickets for just $5, plus tax, every Tuesday. Moviegoers can also grab a small bag of popcorn for $5, though toppings will cost extra. If you’re booking tickets online, a service fee of up to $1.50 will apply, but Scene+ members will see this fee reduced to $1, and CineClub subscribers won’t pay it at all.

Cineplex has been transparent about the booking fee in its announcement, likely addressing concerns after a recent $40 million penalty for misleading business practices.

While this promotion lasts only about a month, Cineplex’s year-round Discount Tuesdays will remain available at their regular reduced price. Additionally, CineClub members, who pay $9.99 per month, enjoy extra perks like deeper discounts on tickets and snacks and one free movie ticket per month.

January is typically a slower time for movie releases, making it an ideal moment for this deal. However, there are still some notable films hitting theatres. Upcoming releases include Den of Thieves 2: Pantera starring Gerard Butler (January 10), Wolf Man by The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell (January 17), and the Captain Underpants spin-off Dog Man (January 31). Plus, there are still blockbuster hits from December showing, such as Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Mufasa: The Lion King, Nosferatu, and A Complete Unknown. Film buffs can also catch screenings of David Fincher classics like Se7en, The Social Network, and Zodiac throughout the month.

Beyond the theatres, Cineplex’s Rec Room entertainment centres are offering their own weekly deals:

  • Monday: $25 all-you-can-eat wings with $10 in gaming credits
  • Tuesday: Half-price arcade and recreational games
  • Wednesday: Half-off burgers and recreational games
  • Thursday: Buy one, get one free on classic poutine
  • Friday: $10 off cocktail towers

With so many affordable options, January looks like a great time to visit Cineplex, whether you’re catching a movie or enjoying some fun at the Rec Room.
