George Clooney and his wife Amal own several properties across Europe and the United States, but one of their most cherished homes is a grand villa on Lake Como in Italy. The couple's villa, purchased in 2002 for $10 million, has recently seen its value skyrocket, now worth over $100 million, thanks to some strategic enhancements by George Clooney himself.
The Lake Como villa, named Villa Oleandra, is located in Laglio, a picturesque area in northern Italy known for its stunning views and luxurious lifestyle. The estate, originally a beautiful but modest property, was transformed into an opulent retreat after Clooney bought the adjacent property, expanding the villa into a sprawling complex. The property now includes 25 rooms, an outdoor pool, tennis courts, and a large garage for Clooney’s collection of vintage motorbikes.

Clooney, who married Amal in 2014, has frequently expressed his deep affection for both the villa and the Italian culture. He has often spoken about how the serene environment of Lake Como offers him a peaceful escape from his busy life. “What changed my life in a very pleasant and unexpected way was buying the villa in Laglio,” Clooney shared back in 2010. He noted that the tranquil setting allowed him to relax and appreciate life more fully.

Despite rumours last year that Clooney was considering selling the villa, he denied these claims. “The first I heard of it was when Page Six published the story,” he stated, clarifying that the speculation was false. Clooney's attachment to the villa is not only due to its beauty but also because it is where he first met Amal. During a dinner party at the villa, a mutual friend introduced them, leading to their eventual marriage in Venice in 2017.

While the villa remains a treasured retreat, the Clooneys now spend much of their time at a newly acquired property in Provence, France. They purchased Domaine Le Canadel in 2021 for $8.3 million. This French chateau boasts expansive lawns, a full-sized pool, a tennis court, a lake, an olive grove, and a 25-acre vineyard. The Clooneys have immersed themselves in the local community, with George even engaging in local charitable activities, including supporting a farm-to-table project in Brignoles.
