Crystal Palace has announced Oliver Glasner as their new manager following Roy Hodgson's resignation earlier today. Glasner, 49, has signed a contract until the end of the 2025-26 season. This decision was made after Hodgson expressed his intention to step down, allowing the club to expedite their search for a new manager. Hodgson's assistant Paddy McCarthy and first team coach Ray Lewington will be in charge of the team for their upcoming match against Everton.

Glasner's appointment comes shortly after Hodgson's hospitalization on Thursday. Palace had already been considering Glasner, who previously won the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022. He was present at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday and will be managing his first game against Spurs. His official debut will be against Burnley at Selhurst Park.

"I am thrilled to join Crystal Palace F.C. as manager," said Glasner. "I'm excited to work with the talented squad, meet the club's supporters, and experience the Selhurst Park atmosphere. I've had a great time meeting with Steve and Dougie, and I'm eager to work with them to achieve our goals."

Earlier in his career, Glasner led LASK to second place in the Austrian Bundesliga and guided Wolfsburg to seventh and fourth place finishes in Germany. At Frankfurt, he won the Europa League and reached the knockout stages of the Champions League.

"I'm pleased to welcome Oliver to the club," said Palace chairman Steve Parish. "He has a remarkable record, and we believe he's the right manager to lead the club forward. Oliver's ambition and attacking approach align well with our talented young squad."

Hodgson, who managed Palace for 200 matches over two spells and six seasons, expressed his gratitude towards the club. "This club is special to me and has played a significant role in my footballing life," he said. "I've enjoyed my time here, working with top-class players and staff. However, given recent circumstances, I believe it's best for the club to plan ahead."

Hodgson's final game as manager was a 3-1 defeat to Chelsea. Despite recent struggles, he is respected for stabilizing Palace as a Premier League club. "Roy has a special place in Crystal Palace history," said Parish. "We owe our continued Premier League status to him."

"I would like to thank Roy for his service and wish him the very best for the future," added Parish. "He's been the manager for half of the time we've been in the Premier League, and I've enjoyed working with him immensely."

Crystal Palace is currently 15th in the Premier League, five points ahead of Everton in 18th place.
