Demi Lovato has spoken honestly about learning to accept and care for her body after spending years dealing with eating disorders. HELLO!
Demi Lovato enjoyed a warm escape in Costa Rica and shared moments from the trip with her fans. She posted a photo taken on a boat as it floated on bright blue water. In the picture, she wore a retro-style black bikini with white trim that showed her toned figure. Her friends joined her on the holiday, and the singer looked relaxed and happy under the sun.
She later posted another snapshot from the beach. This time she walked along the sand with friends and wore a simple black bikini. Her dark hair sat in a loose bun as she smiled at the camera. “Cool for the summer, warm for the winter,” she wrote, adding a playful nod to her well-known 2015 hit.
Support From Loved Ones
Her husband, Jordan “Jutes” Lutes, commented on the post soon after. “What a babe,” he wrote, sending his support. Fans also flooded the comments with excitement. One person said, “I love to see you shining like this.” Another wrote, “Soo pretty.” Others called her “the goddess” and cheered her on for enjoying life with confidence.

Many fans said they felt happy watching her enjoy the moment. Some praised her strength and said they admired her openness about her past struggles. Several followers also pointed out how healthy and joyful she looked on her trip.
A Journey Toward Healing
Demi has spoken openly for years about her road to recovery. She has dealt with an eating disorder and substance issues that led her to seek treatment. On the Podcrushed podcast, she said, “I have a treatment team that I work with that helps me stay in recovery, and I've been in recovery from bulimia for five, going on six, years now.”
She explained that she aims for “body acceptance” rather than full positivity. She said positivity sometimes feels too far away, so she takes things one step at a time. Demi works with a therapist and a nutritionist who help her use tools that support healthier habits and a calmer mindset. They guide her through sessions on body image and encourage her to focus on balance.

In 2021, Demi told her followers she “accidentally lost weight” after she stopped tracking calories, overworking her body, or restricting food. She said she no longer follows diet culture and focuses instead on feeling stronger and healthier.
Sharing Her Story
Demi also spoke about why she chose to be so honest about her struggles. On the Las Culturistas podcast, she said she wanted to help others who felt alone. She remembered growing up without anyone her age speaking openly about eating disorders. “It was this responsibility that I was willing to take on because I wish that I could have had that growing up,” she said.
She explained that her openness began with a decision to support others who may feel the same way she once did. That choice shaped how she shares her story today.
Demi married Jordan in May 2025. They first met in a studio in 2022 while working on her album Holy Fvck. Together they wrote several songs, including “Substance,” “Happy Ending,” and “City of Angels.” Their friendship soon grew into a romance, and the couple now continues to support each other’s careers.
