Netflix has confirmed that Squid Game Season 3 is coming in 2025, but it seems they might have accidentally let slip more than they planned. A video briefly posted by Netflix Korea revealed not just the year but an exact date: June 27, 2025. If true, that’s just six months away—a surprisingly quick turnaround for a show of this scale.
Considering it took three years to move from Season 1 to Season 2, fans might be wondering: how is Season 3 arriving so soon? The answer lies in how creator Hwang Dong-hyuk originally envisioned the series.
According to Hwang, Seasons 2 and 3 were always meant to be one continuous story. “I planned it as a single series,” he explained. “But as I worked on it, the story became too long, especially with Gi-hun's journey back into the game and the uprising he attempts—only for it to fail.” This pivotal arc was so expansive that it made sense to split it into two seasons, with the second part now being labeled as Season 3.

Interestingly, production for both seasons happened at the same time, which is why Netflix can deliver the next installment so quickly. Instead of their usual strategy of splitting a single season into two parts just weeks apart, this time there’s a six-month gap.
