Country superstar Dolly Parton is helping fight hunger in Manitoba by contributing to one of the province’s most anticipated charity events.
Parton has donated a handmade and autographed bowl for Harvest Manitoba’s Empty Bowls Celebrity Auction & Dinner, which takes place later this month. The annual fundraiser supports Harvest Manitoba’s work in providing food to families across the province who are struggling to make ends meet.
A Bowl With a Dolly Touch
Harvest Manitoba shared that when Parton first received her bowl, it arrived broken. But in true Dolly fashion, she turned the setback into something special.
“True to her spirit, she requested more bowls so she could fully participate, wanting to fire, glaze, and decorate the bowl herself,” the organization said in a statement.
The finished piece reflects Parton’s signature sparkle and flair. It includes pearls and a feather from one of her stage costumes, making it a one-of-a-kind item for collectors and fans alike.
The bowl, now up for auction, starts at a minimum bid of $2,000.
Celebrity Support Pours In
This year’s auction features more than 30 celebrity-designed bowls, each painted or signed by artists and performers from around the world.
Other stars lending their names include Shania Twain, Katy Perry, Jelly Roll, John Travolta, and Whoopi Goldberg. Each bowl is a unique creation, showcasing personal touches that reflect the celebrity’s personality or career.
Bidders can view all the items online, with the auction running until October 18.
A Manitoba Tradition Turns 40
The Empty Bowls Dinner, now in its 40th year, has become one of Manitoba’s most beloved charity events. The evening combines art, music, and philanthropy, bringing together community leaders, artists, and supporters for a shared cause — ending hunger in the province.
This year’s dinner will be held on October 16, featuring locally inspired dishes and live entertainment. Proceeds from the event will go directly toward Harvest Manitoba’s food programs, which help supply over 360 community food banks and agencies across the province.
As food insecurity continues to rise, organizers say the event’s impact has never been more important.
“Every bid and every donation helps put food on someone’s table,” said a spokesperson for Harvest Manitoba. “We’re grateful for the generosity of all the artists and celebrities who continue to support us year after year.”
A Star-Studded Effort for a Worthy Cause
Dolly Parton’s involvement has added excitement to this year’s fundraiser. Known for her generosity and commitment to helping others, the country legend has supported countless charitable causes throughout her career — from literacy programs to disaster relief.
Her heartfelt contribution to Harvest Manitoba continues that tradition, shining a spotlight on both creativity and compassion.
