Dolly Parton’s sister, Freida Parton, has reassured fans that her recent request for prayers was not meant to alarm anyone. The country music icon, 79, has been dealing with health issues, prompting Freida to ask for support from well-wishers.

The singer recently canceled a Dollywood event due to a kidney stone causing “a lot of problems,” and also postponed her upcoming Las Vegas residency. In a heartfelt Facebook post, Freida explained that her call for prayers came from love, not urgency.

“I want to clear something up,” she wrote. “I didn’t mean to scare anyone or make it sound serious. I simply asked for prayers because I believe in the power of prayer. It was nothing more than a little sister asking for prayers for her big sister.”

Freida thanked fans for their support, adding, “Your love truly makes a difference.”

Health Challenges Lead to Postponed Shows

A spokesperson for Dolly Parton told media that she plans to post a social media message addressing fans’ concerns. The singer has delayed her December concerts at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, explaining that she needs “a few procedures” to manage ongoing health challenges. The shows are now rescheduled for September next year.

Despite the setbacks, Freida’s message was encouraging. She described her sister as strong and loved, saying, “With all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”

Earlier, Freida had written that she spent the night praying for Dolly, who “hasn’t been feeling her best lately.” Her update aimed to reassure fans while sharing a glimpse into the singer’s daily life.

A Year Marked by Loss and Resilience

Parton has faced a challenging year. Earlier in 2025, she lost her husband, Carl Dean, after nearly 60 years of marriage. She honored his memory with a new song, If You Hadn’t Been There, highlighting the emotional depth that has long defined her music.

The country superstar is known for legendary hits including Coat of Many Colors, I Will Always Love You, 9 to 5, and Jolene. Her Las Vegas residency would have been her first visit to the Strip since the 1990s, when she performed with duet partner Kenny Rogers. Fans were eagerly awaiting the shows, which now must wait until next September as she focuses on recovery.

Despite health and personal challenges, Parton’s resilience shines through. Her family’s updates, paired with messages of faith and community support, show how deeply fans care and how the singer continues to inspire.

Freida’s clarification has brought relief to many, emphasizing that the situation is manageable. She remains optimistic, confident in her sister’s strength, and grateful for the outpouring of prayers and support.

As Dolly Parton prepares for her return to the stage next year, fans worldwide continue to send love and encouragement. Through all the difficulties, she remains a beloved figure in music and a symbol of perseverance, showing that even in times of challenge, hope and strength endure.
