Trump Signs New Order to Promote School Fitness

Donald Trump signed a new order to bring back the Presidential Fitness Test in public schools. He made the announcement on Thursday at the White House, joined by several athletes. Trump said the move is part of his effort to promote healthier lifestyles among young Americans.

The fitness test was first introduced in 1966. It became a national challenge for students across the country. It was dropped in 2012 and replaced by a program called FitnessGram. That program focused on individual progress rather than competition.

Now, Trump wants schools to compete again. He said, “This was a wonderful tradition, and we’re bringing it back.” He added that students who perform well will receive a Presidential Fitness Award. The test will be managed by the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Big Athletes Join the Launch

Trump was surrounded by athletes during the event. Golf star Bryson DeChambeau, football player Harrison Butker, and former linebacker Lawrence Taylor were among those present. All of them were named official members of Trump’s fitness council.

DeChambeau, a regular Trump supporter, was chosen as the council’s chairman. He recently visited the White House and even played golf on the South Lawn.

Butker has been in the news for his strong religious views. He met with Trump earlier this year and now has a role on the council. Lawrence Taylor, a football legend in New York, has supported Trump at campaign rallies.

Other guests included WWE’s Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Swedish golf star Annika Sorenstam, and a sports doctor from New Jersey who worked on Trump’s council in his first term.

Why Now?

Trump says the country faces a health crisis. He wants to fight it by encouraging better physical activity in schools. His team says the goal is to “create a culture of strength and excellence.”

The order also asks the council to team up with pro athletes, sports leagues, and popular figures to spread the message. Trump hopes this movement will help boost national pride and fitness levels.

Sports and Politics Collide

The announcement comes as the U.S. prepares for major sporting events. The country will host the 2025 Ryder Cup, 2026 FIFA World Cup, and the 2028 Summer Olympics.

Trump often ties sports to larger political messages. He has pushed new rules for transgender athletes and urged the Washington Commanders to return to their former name, the Redskins. He says these changes are about “restoring tradition.”

The goal is to improve kids' health and reward strong performance. Trump wants schools to focus on fitness again and hopes the program builds national pride and physical strength across the country.
