Ellen DeGeneres is mourning the loss of someone who became very special to her over the years. Tayt Andersen, a frequent guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, died on September 26 at the age of 19. His family confirmed he passed away after complications from an infection during his battle with cancer.

Ellen shared her grief in an emotional Instagram video, remembering the unique bond they shared. “We had a very special guest on the show several times, and his name is Tayt,” she said. “He thought that I was his girlfriend, so I told him he was my boyfriend.”

Holding back tears, the 67-year-old described him as “a very special little human being” who filled every room with joy, laughter, and light. Struggling to finish her thoughts, Ellen added softly, “I will miss him.”

A Boy Who Captured Hearts

Tayt’s story first touched audiences when he appeared on Ellen’s show as a young child. Born with half a heart, he endured 12 surgeries before the age of nine. Despite constant medical struggles, he found happiness in watching Ellen.

His mother, Chrissy Andersen, once revealed that her son planned all his doctor’s appointments around the show. “He would ask nurses to sit with him while he watched every episode,” she recalled in a touching montage aired during one of his appearances. Ellen’s humor and kindness became a source of comfort through his health battles.

Family Confirms His Passing

Tayt’s family shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, writing that he died peacefully early on September 26, “surrounded by the fierce love of his family.” He had been diagnosed with bladder cancer earlier this year, a new challenge after years of health struggles.

The family explained that an infection worsened his condition. “He was so alert and responsive on Sunday,” they wrote. “But by night, he was in terrible pain. He remained asleep and unresponsive, resting comfortably, until he passed away early this morning.”

In his final hours, his loved ones surrounded him with familiar comforts. They FaceTimed relatives so everyone could say goodbye, watched his favorite movies, and read his favorite books. “We knew Tayt’s time was limited,” they said, “but we honestly just weren’t ready to lose him.”

A Legacy of Strength and Joy

Despite his short life, Tayt left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. His family expressed gratitude for the time they shared. “There are truly no words to describe this pain,” their statement read. “We are moving through this process, grateful for every moment we had with our amazing boy. No more pain, no more appointments, no more treatments.”

Ellen’s tribute echoed the sentiment shared by many who followed his journey. To her and to viewers, Tayt was more than a guest—he was a reminder of resilience, courage, and the power of joy even in the face of hardship.
