Elon Musk has stirred controversy once again. On June 5, he claimed former President Donald Trump appears in secret government files linked to Jeffrey Epstein, a man accused of sex trafficking.
Musk shared this message on his platform, X. He wrote, “Time to drop the really big bomb: Trump is in the Epstein files.” He added that this is why those files have not been made public.
Old Conspiracy Finds New Life
This statement has reignited a long-running conspiracy theory. Some Trump supporters believe Epstein’s crimes involved many powerful people. They often blame celebrities and Democrats. Musk's message now shifts that focus back to Trump himself.
Until now, no official source has confirmed Trump’s name in the documents. Musk gave no proof for his claim. He did not explain what files he was referring to.
White House Responds
A White House spokesperson said Musk was angry. She claimed he disliked a recent bill that did not include his policy ideas. She called the tweet “an unfortunate episode.”
Meanwhile, Musk’s post caused a new wave of calls to release all Epstein-related documents. This time, the calls are coming from Democrats.
Background on Epstein
Jeffrey Epstein was charged with sex trafficking before dying in jail in 2019. Prosecutors said he ran a secret operation on his private island. Many people believe more powerful figures were involved.
Trump denied ever going to Epstein’s island. He said he would have “no problem” releasing the related files. Yet, his administration has not released everything.
Old Connections Resurface
In the 1990s, Trump and Epstein moved in the same social circles. They attended parties together. PolitiFact found that Trump flew on Epstein’s jet at least seven times. But it also found no solid proof he visited the island.
In an old interview, Trump called Epstein a “terrific guy.” He even said Epstein liked “beautiful women... many of them on the younger side.”
Victim’s Story Adds Pressure
Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s victims, had accused him of trafficking her to wealthy men. She passed away earlier this year. In past lawsuits, she claimed high-profile figures were involved. Thousands of pages were released in 2019 and 2024, but they revealed little about major names.
Lawmakers React Strongly
Some lawmakers took Musk’s post seriously. A congressman from New York said his suspicions were now “confirmed.” Another from California said Musk had confirmed what he already believed.
Both called for the release of all Epstein files. A former Republican spokesman also agreed. He said the public deserves to know the truth.
