A private plane had a rough landing at Pearson airport early Tuesday morning. The plane had a problem with its landing gear while touching down around 8:30 a.m. Two people were on board, but thankfully, no one was hurt.
Airport staff shared the update online. “A private aircraft experienced an issue with its landing gear after touching down at Toronto Pearson this morning,” the post read.
Plane Stopped Near Runway Intersection
After landing, the aircraft continued moving down the runway for a short distance. It finally stopped near a runway intersection. There was no fire or crash, but the landing was not smooth.
Emergency teams reached the scene quickly. Airport police began an investigation to understand what went wrong. The aircraft stayed in place for several hours.
Two Runways Temporarily Closed
Because of the incident, two runways had to close for safety. Flights continued as usual on two other runways. Some travelers experienced delays, but airport services didn’t stop fully.
By 5 p.m., airport officials reopened the affected runways. Regular operations started again soon after. There were no major cancellations, and the airport returned to its normal pace.
Safety Team Investigates Landing
The Transportation Safety Board sent a team to look into the incident. They are collecting details and checking the aircraft. They will also speak with the crew and look at equipment records.
The plane was identified as a Hawker 850XP. It is a type of business jet often used by private owners or small companies. The aircraft is registered privately and not owned by a commercial airline.
Passengers and Staff Safe
Despite the landing issue, the plane did not lose control. The crew handled the situation well. No medical help was needed, and the runway remained safe after checks.
The airport thanked its safety teams and staff for acting quickly. Many passengers later appreciated that no one got injured.
