The nominations for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards are out—and Apple TV+ is leading the charge.
Severance stood ahead of the competition with 27 nominations nods, making it the most recognized show in 2025. Apple’s workplace sci-fi thriller made waves with its dual-role performances and chilling storyline. Stars Adam Scott and Britt Lower were both nominated for lead roles, while Ben Stiller landed a directing nod for the season finale.

Close behind, HBO’s The Penguin surprised many with 24 nominations in the limited series category. Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti were recognized for their gritty performances in this dark Batman spinoff.
Meanwhile, Apple TV+ also saw huge success with its comedy The Studio, which secured 23 nominations, tying last year’s record set by The Bear. Co-creator Seth Rogen received triple nods—for acting, writing, and directing. Hollywood icons like Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard, and Bryan Cranston added to the show’s guest star bonanza.
More Hits Across Networks
HBO’s The White Lotus continued its Emmy streak, collecting 23 nominations, mostly in supporting acting roles for its Thailand-set season. Newcomer The Pitt, a medical drama starring Noah Wyle, earned 13 nominations and could finally bring Wyle his first Emmy win.
CBS’s Matlock, led by Oscar-winner Kathy Bates, made headlines as she became the oldest-ever nominee for best actress in a drama. ABC’s Abbott Elementary also made a modest showing with six nominations, including nods for creator Quinta Brunson.
Streaming Powerhouses Lead the Pack
As usual, HBO and HBO Max topped the overall network tally with a record-breaking 142 nominations. Netflix followed closely with 120, while Apple TV+ secured 79.

Disney+ got in the game too, with 14 nominations for its Star Wars series Andor. Notably, Forest Whitaker earned a guest actor nod, though star Diego Luna was left off the list.
A Big Year for Bold TV
From limited series to breakout comedies, this year’s Emmy race is packed with surprises. With heavy-hitters like Succession and Shogun sitting this one out, the field is wide open.
The 77th Emmy Awards will air live on CBS on September 14 from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Nate Bargatze is set to host.
